GOING, GOING GONE - RETIRING STAMP SETS

Well it's that time of year again when Stampin' Up! announces what Stamp Sets will be retiring.  The list is quite long this year as SU is making some changes to the 2012/13 Catalog.  It will be smaller (less pages), but we will have 2 Mini Catalogs a year that will be larger.  These mini's will contain new and trendy stuff in the market.  There will be a Holiday Mini and a Spring Mini.  But back to the retiring list -- this is only the stamp sets.  On April 25, we will get the retiring accessories list.  Remember the 2010/2012 In Colors will be retiring (Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizazz, Concord Crush and Blushing Bride) so they will be on the accessories list.  If you LOVE these colors - order them now!  Because all accessories are "while supplies last".

MARCH CLASSES AT THE BEEHIVE

Well Winter hasn't been much like Winter.  Yesterday was like a Spring Day.  March continues to be the same.  Some days are like winter, but more are like spring.  Lots of classes to pick from and I hope you will sign up for one or 2.  Remember Sale-A-Bration continues through March.  Also a great promotion to become a member of my SU Team.  Ask me how!!!!

 

BIG SHOT CLASS – Thur, Mar.  1, 7 pm

At the class you will make 2 cards and one 3D items all using the Big Shot.  The projects will be designed around the holiday, season or an occasion.  Come try out a die or folder and learn other things you can do with it.  Cost of the class is $10 or FREE if you place at least a $20 order (before shipping and tax).  Bring your own adhesive, scissors, paper cutter and clear blocks.  RSVP by Feb. 27.

123 CLASS – Thur, Mar  1, 7 pm

Why not attend this class along with the Big Shot class?  This class is a quick one.  It is a drop in class between 7 – 9 pm.  If you only have 1 hour, you can make 2 cute simple cards for $3.  Good way to get that birthday card or thank you card made.  Bring your own adhesive, scissors, paper cutter and clear blocks.  RSVP by Feb. 27.

TECHNIQUE CLASS – Wed, Mar 7, 7 pm

Tonight’s class will feature 3 techniques.  You will make a card using each of the techniques and also a 6x6 page of each technique for your technique book.  Cost of the class is $15 or FREE if you place at least a $25 order (before shipping and tax).  Bring your own adhesive, scissors, paper cutter and clear blocks.  RSVP by March 3. 

STAMP-A-STACK/SAB – Thur, Mar. 15 , 7 pm

 SCRAPBOOKING CLASS – Tues, Mar 20 , 7 pm

Tonight you will make a 2 page, 12x12 scrapbook layout designed around the season, holiday or occasion.  Cost is $15 for the class or the class is FREE with a $25 order (before shipping and tax).  A 12x12 page protector is included with the class.  RSVP by Mar. 17.

WOW CLASS – Mon, Mar 26, 7 pm

The class is FREE but you must purchase the featured stamp set or featured product to attend.  You will make 4 cards that you will say WOW after you get done.  They will have multiple layers, embellishments and more.  We will make these cards all together and I will step you through each card.  Bring your own adhesive, scissors, paper cutter and clear blocks.  The featured product this month is the Mouthwatering Stamp Set, ½ pack of Sweet Shop Specialty Designer Paper, and Jelly Bean Brads.  Cost is $30.00 and is payable with your RSVP that is needed by March 10.

The Big Shot has got to be one of my favorite tools.  I love using the dies, embosing folders and now the new framelit dies.  This month I featured Valentine's Day projects.  Here are the 3 we did.

BUSY BUSY TIME OF YEAR

What's Up?

Sorry for the long time between posts.  Winter is my busy season of the year because I'm a downhill skier and on the National Ski Patrol at Crystal Mountain and for Western Michigan Region. 

Here are 2 cards that we made at the 123 Class.  The 123 Class is:  one hour, 2 cards, $3.  Join us the first Thursday of the month for this class.

Happy St. Patrick's Day - uses the large heart punch to make the shamrock.

Very simple card using the various circle punches and the Punch Bunch stamp set from SAB.

WORD PLAY is the stamp set I have chosen to feature this quarter.  It contains 12 stamps in clear mounted that actual have a play on words.  Pg. 147 in the IBC.  We will make 4 cards each month using this stamp set in January, February and March. The first month you participate will be to purchase the stamp set (clear mounted) and the 4 projects.  Each month after that, the cost will be reduced to include some embellishments or DSP.  RSVP by Feb. 1 if this is your first month.   Cost is $35 for the first month  and includes the stamp set and all materials to make the 4 projects.  Cost for the 2^nd and 3^rd month is $20 each month and includes all materials to make the 4 projects.   Bring your own adhesive, cutter, clear blocks and scissors.

Today's post using some different colors as I wanted to mix it up a bit.  Stampin' Up announced a new color revision coming in July.  Some of the colors I used on this card will be retiring.  I will be posting that info later on my blog -- so check back again.

Awash with Flowers

If you've been keeping track of my blog you will remember I stated I would post some samples using the BRAND NEW - Awash with Flowers stamp set that is being featured this month.  This is a sneak peak from the new 2010/11 Catalog.  What fun I had with this stamp set and even though it is a 2-step stamp set - you can use just the outline or just the solid or both.

Here is today's sample!

This card is 5 1/2" square and uses the Scallop Circle Big Shot die.  Paper:  Certainly celery, Orchid Opulence, Whisper White and Shades of Spring DSP from the Occasions Mini.  Ink:  Orchid Opulence, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Basic Black and Certainly Celery 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon.  So "springy" don't you think?  Check back for another sample tomorrow.

GOING GREEN IDEAS

We had a ton of fun at the Going Green class last week.  We used up a lot of scraps of paper and because the class was on St. Patty's day - we had some special goodies. Here are some samples of items we made.

Remember the Big Shot can cut through much more than paper.  Only about 50+ different materials.  Here I used roof flashing that I bought at the home improvement store.  I was so excited that it actually came in a 6" width so all I had to do was cut it with tin snips to the length of the die.  You can use pop cans or other thin metal to make this little candle holder.  This has got to be one of my favorite dies for the Big Shot - Flower Folds.  It makes 4 different size flowers.  Here we used the 3 largest and slightly bent the petals to create a cup to hold the candle.  Here is what we did with the smallest flower.

A little designer series paper (from the SAB pack), a flower from the stitched felt Sweet Pea pack and glued a pin on the back to make a cute jewelry pin to wear.  Quick, easy and look how cute and we used all the flowers from the Flower Folds die.
